Grappe de Cyrano Cross Country Trail Bike Rally - Easter Saturday An annual event featuring two days of motorcycle racing through 520 Kms of paths starting from Bergerac on Good Friday. Participants arrive from 5pm on Saturday in Montignac, where they have a communal meal of roast boar in the town square . They then head back to Bergerac via Tursac and Le Bugue passing other beautiful villages and castles .

Fete de la Musique , 21 June in Montignac,Sarlat,Perigeux all over France

Annual event celebrated on the longest day of the year with fireworks,musicians playing on the streets which are all pedestrianized. Cafes and restaurants have their own line up of musicians playing,free of charge.

La Felibree 5,6,7 July 2013 Bergerac

Draws up to 25000 people each year a procession of traditional costumes followed by a sumptuous open air banquet(known as Taulade). Demonstrations of traditional trades like basket making and clog making.Streets are festooned with garlands.Held in a different town each year.This year it is in Bergerac

There are lots of fireworks displays everywhere in the region. In Montignac, everyone lines the riverbank to watch the display and different bands play in street corners and cafes. Terrasson, Sarlat and Perigeux fireworks display are also very well regarded.

Display and parade of colourful and imaginative hats, with lots of other activities during the day.


Montignac International Festival -22-28 July,2013

Weeklong music and dance displays from representatives of different countries . On the first day,a colorful parade opens the event and through the week there are evening shows in the town square and a barbecue dinner. The event culminates in a fireworks display by the river.

Week long festival .Some participating restaurants and shops offer special menus.There are indoor and outdoor performances.Some require tickets. Some are free.

Baroque and classical music in remarkable and unusual sites.  

Evening Markets in July/August whereby local producers sell their wine, cheese, fruit, fois gras and meat. You buy what you would like to eat from any of the various stalls, hand it to someone manning the barbeques for him to cook, then take the cooked meat and join the locals in large communal tables,as you listen to the local band, dance and be merry. Great atmosphere and great value for money.

There are several fêtes throughout the spring and summer months in all the surrounding towns and villages. These usually consist of an open air 3 or 4 course meal, some entertainment such as live music and dancing. It is generally necessary to book. Announcements are displayed in the local supermarkets and roadside closer to the date.
